Besides the impact on social and economical dynamics of the caiçara villages at Ilha Grande, the sardine cicle had also changed the landscape. The installations for processing the sardines were built near the sand strip of the beach, for they depend on the feedstock of the sea.
Piers were also made to guarantee the landing of the fish and later flow of the processed product. Many boarding and landing structures of the present day at Ilha Grande had their origins in this period.
